Judah was one of the two Hebrew kingdoms, with Israel to the north and its other half. Judah became a kingdom after the fall of King Solomon's rule. It was apart It was bordered by the Salt Sea on one side, which is now known as the Dead Sea, and the Great Sea, now known as the Mediterranean. It's capital was Jerusalem, and it was known as the land of the Jews. Most of the Israelites returned there after escaping captivity in Egypt, this was their Promised Land. Within Judah there we 12 tribes, that were divided in kingdoms that stood independent, similar to states in the USA for about 200 years. Judah was a melting pot of Jews, Israelites, and people from many tribes including the Tribe of Levi and Reuben. Judah was surrounded by and affected by constant tension, and the changing of powers/rulers.
